Vija Tselmins (in Latvian sources referred to as Vija Celmina; English. Vija Celmins ; Latvian. Vija Celmiņa ; October 25, 1938, Riga ) - American artist and graphic artist of Latvian origin. Gained fame as a representative of American photorealism.

Biography
Vija was born in Riga on October 25, 1938. In 1945, during the end of World War II, the Celmins family fled to East Germany, and in 1948 they moved to Indianapolis . From 1955 to 1962 she studied at the Indianapolis School of Art. In 1965, she received a master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Creativity
Vija Celmins participated in solo exhibitions in many museums around the world, such as: Whitney Museum of American Art, Institute of Contemporary Ar, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum für Moderne Kunst, County Museum of Art, Center Pompidou, Menil Collection, Museum Ludwig, The Art Museum Riga Bourse.
The most expensive of her work Wii Celminia was the picture Night Sky # 14 (1996-1997), sold in 2013 at Christie's auction for $ 2.4 million [4] .
