Ivan Semenovich Makushenko (real name is Makukha ) ( Ukrainian: Ivan Semenovich Makushenko ; March 30, 1867 , Lysyanka, Zvenigorod district, Kiev province, Russian Empire (now Cherkasy region - June 7, 1955 , Kiev ) - Ukrainian Soviet painter and teacher.

Biography

Born into a peasant family. In 1892-1897, as a free student, he studied painting at the Higher Art School under the Imperial Academy of Arts under the direction of I. E. Repin , graduating from the Academy received the title of non-class artist. In 1900, for the painting "Sunday in Little Russia" he was awarded the title of artist. [one]

From 1904 he worked in Ukraine, from 1905-1919 he taught at the Kiev Art School , from 1934 - at the Kiev Art Institute (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture ).

Creativity

The paintings of I. S. Makushenko are written in the Wanderer traditions.

In his paintings, I. Makushenko depicted the life of peasants, the life and nature of Ukraine, their native land. Member of more than four hundred art exhibitions, 50 personal exhibitions.

His works were exhibited in Australia, Algeria, England, India, Iraq, Canada, Italy, Libya, Colombia, Switzerland, USA, France, Japan.

He brought up a number of talented artists.
