Biography
Vladimir Averin was born on September 17, 1932 in the urban-type settlement Upper Sergi of the Nizhneserginsky District of the Sverdlovsk Region . His father was a worker, although the family maintained a rich household farm with a garden, a vegetable garden, and farm animals, so from early childhood the boy helped adults with the housework and was used to regular physical labor. From a young age he became interested in sports, while studying at school he represented his village at volleyball , football , skiing and athletics competitions .
After graduating from school, he was drafted into the ranks of the Armed Forces of the USSR , for four years he served in the Navy . After demobilization, he studied at the Sverdlovsk College of Physical Education, here he began to seriously engage in modern pentathlon , in particular, he won a bronze medal from the technical school at the USSR Championship among secondary vocational schools. Later he joined the athletics team of the Sverdlovsk region, participated in the championships of all-Russian and all-Union significance. In 1962, he won the decathlon at the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the RSFSR and thereby fulfilled the standard of the first sports category in this discipline.
He graduated from the Omsk State Institute of Physical Culture and in 1964 returned to Sverdlovsk, where he was employed as a senior trainer in the regional council of the Lokomotiv voluntary sports society. Since 1968 he worked as a children's coach at the Yunost sports complex, in 1971 he won the contest "The Best Trainer with Children" held in the region and was awarded the commemorative medal of the Sverdlovsk Regional Sports Committee.
In 1972, Vladimir Averin initiated and founded the athletics department at the Sports School Boarding School that opened in Sverdlovsk (later renamed the School of Olympic Reserve No. 1). He became one of the first trainers of throwing disciplines, in the first set he trained 60 students. Over the years of coaching, he trained many talented athletes, among them the winners of the USSR championships among young men and women Vadim Skorlupkin, Dmitry Slasten, Alexander Firsov, Yuri Fedotov, Gennady Anisimov, Vladimir Kosarev, Pavel Popov, Elena Klochikhina, Pavel Yamov. His most famous pupil - Vyacheslav Lykho , honored master of sports in shot put, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Barcelona , medalist of world and European championships among juniors - for his training Averin was awarded the honorary title " Honored Coach of the RSFSR " [1] .
He participated in athletics competitions as a judge of the republican category. Since 1993, retired.
