The parliamentary elections in Cape Verde were held on March 20, 2016 . [1] The ruling African Independence Party of Cape Verde, led by Zhanira Almada, was defeated by the Democracy Movement led by José Correi and Silva. [2]

72 deputies of the National Assembly of Cape Verde are elected in 16 multi-member districts, the number of seats in which ranges from 2 to 15. Elections are held according to the proportional representation system, the distribution of mandates is carried out according to the D'Ondt method . [3]
