Biography
Born May 25, 1915 in Los Puertos de Altegracia in the family of an employee. His father had a total of 13 children, Gabriel was the second child. He studied at school at the moment when dictator Juan Vicente Gomez ruled Venezuela and severity prevailed in the country, including in schools. He could hardly tolerate strict and severe discipline imposed at school, but he grew up as a capable boy and loved to draw. Already at the age of 12, he graduated from high school and got a job at the bank , and in 1931 entered the art circle. In 1936 he moved to Caracas and devoted the whole long and fruitful life to the capital of Venezuela. He entered the School of Fine Arts and studied under Armando Lear, who instilled a love of drawing, and Gabriel was friends with his teacher until his death. In the first works of Bracho (these were still lifes, sketches of nudity and wall compositions), the influence of not only French impressionism, but also expressionism, cubism was felt.
Died March 6, 1995 in Caracas.
