Biography
Born November 16, 1904 .
After graduating from Leningrad State University ( 1928 ) he worked at the Red Pilot plant, where his flying boat MU-3 was built.
Since 1932 - Deputy Head of the Design Bureau of the Voronezh Aviation Plant .
In 1930-1945 he developed over 35 projects and built 23 types of light aircraft. On airplanes Moskalev set a number of records of range and duration of flight. During World War II, he was engaged in the design and manufacture of airborne equipment.
Since 1948 - teaching at the Leningrad Military Engineering Academy. A.F. Mozhaysky .
The author of 35 designs and modifications of aircraft, the founder of the arrow-shaped form of the delta wing, which gave a sharp impetus to the development of jet supersonic aircraft. Creator of SAM-5 , SAM-7 , SAM-10 , SAM-13 aircraft, unique in their performance characteristics, etc.
The group of original aviation structures created by him remains largely unsurpassed for 2007 in terms of the LTX / engine power ratio (and, accordingly, in terms of efficiency).
These include:
- SAM-5 (several options; the first appeared in 1933 ),
- "Sigma" SAM-4 ("Sum"; the estimated speed with two M-34 engines is 900 km / h; there was only a project of 1933-1934),
- SAM-6 (freestanding low wing with a trapezoidal wing and one-wheeled landing gear),
- SAM-7 (double tailless escort fighter, built in 1935, estimated speed - 600+ km / h),
- “Strela” plane ( 1937 ) with a wing of ultra-low elongation and very high sweep (in world aviation such indicators of the wing of an airplane appeared only in the 1950s),
- SAM-10 - a light wooden passenger aircraft, unsurpassed in the class of light aircraft and 70 years after its inception ( state tests passed in 1938 ),
- SAM-11 amphibious training aircraft,
- SAM-12 training fighter,
- SAM-13 - one of the best pre-war Soviet fighters,
- SAM-14 , SAM-16 , SAM-25 ,
- project fighter RM-1 and several others.
None of them went into any significant series, and did not significantly affect the development of domestic or world aviation. However, this testifies not so much about any problems of Moskalyov’s airplanes, but about problems of domestic and world aviation.
Since 1948, Moskalev was on a teaching job at the Leningrad Military Engineering Academy. A.F. Mozhaysky.
He died on January 3, 1982 and was buried in the Northern cemetery in Leningrad .
Rewards
- He was awarded the orders of the Red Star and the Badge of Honor, and medals.
- In 1979 , in connection with the 75th anniversary, he was awarded the Gold Medal named after Academician Korolev.
