First described by Karl Linnaeus, in the second edition of the work of Mantissa Plantarum , samples of this species came to Europe from the island of Java .
In some sources, the name Saraca indica is mistakenly applied to the closely related species Ashoka ( Saraca asoca ), the inaccuracy first appeared in the 1869 publication. [2]
Indian differs from Ashoka Saraka by other details of the structure of the flower, with a slightly smaller number of pods, and to the east of the area located. [3]
