Nikolai Pavlovich Gronsky ( July 11 [24] 1909 , Terioki - November 21, 1934 , Paris ) was a Russian poet of the “first wave” of emigration.

The son of the lawyer and political figure P. P. Gronsky and the sculptor N. N. Gronsky. Gronsky's childhood passed in St. Petersburg and in the Tver province, where in the Vesyegonsk district there was a tribal noble family of the Gronskys [1] . Together with his parents he was in exile since 1920, graduated from the Russian gymnasium in Paris, and entered the university , under the influence of his father, choosing the faculty of law. In 1932 he graduated and continued his education in accordance with his determined vocation - Gronsky was accepted to the third year of the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature at the University of Brussels and began work on his thesis on G. Derzhavin [1] . He died at the Paris Metro station Pasteur in an accident. Three weeks after the death of Gronsky, his poem “Belladonna” was published (he did not publish his poems during his lifetime), about which Marina Tsvetaeva wrote an article “Posthumous Gift” in December 1934 [2] .
Known mainly as the addressee of the lyrics of Marina Tsvetaeva, who devoted him the poem “Youth in the Mouth” (1928), “The Forest: A Continuous Oil Mill ...” (1928), the cycle “The Gravestone” (1928, 1935), as well as the article “Poet-Mountaineer” (1934) and who wrote a review of his posthumous collection of "Poems and Poems" (1936). Gronsky devoted two poems to Tsvetaeva. Their extensive correspondence has been preserved (since 1928). The most complete edition: M. Tsvetaeva, N. Gronsky. "A few heartbeats: letters of 1928-1933." “Paris gave Gronsky a lot, because Gronsky managed to take a lot: the National Library and the Turgenev Library, old cathedrals and glorious squares, and that is incomparably more important, managed not only to take, but managed to defend: his image, his youthful dignity, his passion for the heights, its Russian origins and, in all its wealth, power and youth, its language. Taking from one Paris - everything, did not give to another Paris - nothing. ”

The roots of Gronsky's poetry were in the 18th century, and this alienated him from the principles of the “ Parisian note ” proclaimed by G. Adamovich . Gronsky wrote sublime, metaphysical in essence verses, diverse in subject matter and somewhat formally uneven.
