Career

Tomasz Mertle is a graduate of the České Budějovice hockey club. In the 2003/04 season, he made his first debut at the highest level in the Czech hockey championship. In 2008, he spent 4 matches in the Champions Hockey League , scored 1 goal. From 2004 to 2010 he played for the clubs of the second and third leagues of the Czech Republic, periodically playing in Extralig for České Budějovice. Since 2010, he has become a player in the main team. In 2013, he became a player in the Hradec Kralov Mountfield , which, as a result of a change in sponsor, took the place of České Budějovice in the Czech elite league. In 2015, he signed a contract with the KHL club " Medveshchak ". He spent the end of the 2015/16 season at Hradec Kralove, but returned to Medvescak in the 2016/17 season. In the 2017/18 season, he played in the Czech Extra League for the Skoda Pilsen team, became the best Extra League sniper, and also earned an invitation to the Czech team to participate in the 2018 Olympic Games in Korea . At the Olympics, together with the national team, he stopped at the step of medals, taking 4th place. In the summer of 2018, he signed a contract with the KHL Kunlun Red Star club. In May 2019 he returned to the Pilsen club.
