Augšiela ( Latvian: Augšiela , translated as Upper Street ) is a street in the Latgale suburb of Riga , in Grisinkalns .

It starts from the T-shaped intersection with Yan Asar Street , runs south, intersects with Stadium Street and ends with a T-shaped intersection with Augustus Deglav Street . It does not intersect with other streets.
The name Upper Street ( Latvian: Augšējā iela ) was given in 1885 ; originally designed and continuation of the street on the other side of the current Augustus Deglav Street . It has a modern name since 1923 [2] . Fundamental renaming of the street was not [3] .
The total length of the street is 377 meters [1] . Throughout it has an asphalt surface and two lanes. Public transport does not run along the street.
Almost the entire odd (east) side of the street is occupied by the Daugava stadium, opened in 1958 . [four]
