Esenheim ( FR. Hessenheim ) is a commune in the northeast of France in the Grand Est region [1] (former Alsace - Champagne - Ardennes - Lorraine ), department of the Lower Rhine , district of Celeste-Ersten , canton of Celeste [2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Markolsheim (Celeste-Ersten district).

The commune is located at a distance of about 390 km east of Paris and 45 km south of Strasbourg [3] .

Economics
In 2010, out of 368 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years), 301 were economically active , 67 inactive (activity indicator 81.8%, in 1999 - 72.0%). Of 301 active able-bodied residents, 280 people worked (155 men and 125 women), 21 were unemployed (8 men and 13 women). Among 67 able-bodied inactive citizens, 18 were pupils or students , 35 were pensioners , and another 14 were inactive for other reasons [10] [11] .
