Biography

Consisted of the Russian Beijing mission to study the languages ​​of Chinese, Mongolian and Manchurian and to translate documents. Arriving in St. Petersburg (c. 1745), Rossokhin was appointed translator at the Academy of Sciences and a teacher of oriental languages ​​at an academic gymnasium. Here he, together with Leontyev, translated several Chinese and Manchu books into Russian, including Conversations and Manjurian Stories, which remained unprinted. He published in Miller's Monthly Works for 1761 amendments to Dugald's news of the Chinese silk industry and several other articles.
