Mythology
Under the influence of Christianity, Purygin-groove acquired some attributes of Elijah the prophet : he drives about the sky in a chariot drawn by three fiery horses, the wheels of a chariot carve lightning. Sometimes lightning was presented in the form of an independent deity - Yondol-groove . There is thunder in Purygin's groove in his left hand and rain in his right hand.
According to some myths, Puregin-groove - the son of the sun god Chi-groove and the goddess of fertility Angé Patay - is born lame: when the god stumbles over the clouds - thunder rumbles. Parents threw him to the ground, where he married the earthly girl Syrta (in other cases, he is Nishke-paz's son-in-law).
The purgyne-groove corresponds to the Moksha god of thunder, Atyam-shkai .
The name of Purgyne-groove is similar to the names of the gods of the thunderstorm among the Indo-European peoples: the Baltic Perkunas ; Aryan Parjanya ; Slavic Perun .
