Andrei Olegovich Bolshakov (born 1958 ) is a Russian Egyptologist , Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor of the Department of the Ancient East at the Eastern Department of St. Petersburg State University . Head of the sector of the Ancient East in the Oriental Department of the State Hermitage Museum .

Biography
The son of an orientalist O. G. Bolshakov . In 1980 he graduated from the Department of the Ancient East of the Eastern Faculty of Leningrad State University . He defended his thesis “The role of images in the worldview of the Egyptians of the Old Kingdom: based on the materials of the tombs of the main necropolises of Egypt III millennium BC. e. "(1985). In 1997, he received a doctorate in historical sciences for his dissertation "Man and his double in the Egyptian worldview of the Old Kingdom ."
Head of the sector of the Ancient East in the Oriental Department of the State Hermitage Museum . Permanent curator of Hermitage exhibitions in Ancient Egypt in Russia and abroad.
Bibliography
The author of more than 150 articles and 4 books on Egyptology in Russian and English. Author of catalogs of Egyptian monuments of the Hermitage collection.
