History

North Rhine-Westphalia was laid down on October 24, 2012 by the shipbuilding companies ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and Lürssen Werft on the slipway Bremen . The ceremonial launching ceremony was held on April 16, 2015 in Hamburg in the presence of Hannelore Kraft, Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia ( Ministerpräsident des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen ). The preceding ship, over which the land of North Rhine-Westphalia marched, was the destroyer Mölders (D 186) , decommissioned in 2003 . [1] The official transfer of the frigate to the 4th frigate squadron ( 4. Fregattengeschwader ) is scheduled for 2018 . On July 4, 2016, the captain of the second rank, Stefan Schulz, was appointed commander of the 4th squadron. [2]
