Story

Police Commissioner Lebefef ( Louis de Funes ) is very conservative, and therefore he can not but worry about the decline of morals in France . After learning about the upcoming premiere of the show "Ah! These beautiful bacchantes ”, Lebefef goes to a variety theater to find out if there is some indecent act behind this suspicious name.

The chief director of the theater, believing in a fictional story about a criminal hiding in a troupe, allows Lebef to participate in the rehearsal. Commissioner's suspicions are confirmed - the show is really more than frankly from the point of view of morality. Half-dressed mannequins are replaced by almost nude dancers, one number more frivolous than the other. But gradually the rehearsal so captures Lebeefe that by the end of it there is no trace of the commissioner's conservatism.
