“Dog's Life” ( eng. A Dog's Purpose ) is an American comedy and drama feature film directed by Lasse Hallstrom . Based on Bruce Cameron's novel “The Life and Purpose of a Dog”, which tells about a dog that is able to be reborn after death and with each new incarnation more and more approaching the understanding of a person and his problems. The world premiere of the film took place on January 27, 2017, in Russia it took place on March 30, 2017.

Content
Story
Dogs come in many breeds, suits and sizes. They are our most loyal and devoted friends, and we teach them good manners. Dogs always think of us, however, sometimes bacon. Every day they all see off and meet us at the threshold in the confidence that as long as they have someone to lick and love, their life has a meaning.

Scenario
The script of the film was written by Audrey Wells on the outline of the author of the book Bruce Cameron and his wife Catherine Michon [2] [3] , who previously participated in the development of the script for the television series about the dog "New Adventures of Lassie" [4] .

Criticism
The film received mixed reviews from film critics. On the site Rotten Tomatoes the film has a rating of 35% based on 141 reviews with an average score of 4.8 out of 10 [5] . On the Metacritic website , the film has a rating of 43 out of 100 based on 32 critics' reviews, which corresponds to the status of “mixed or average reviews” [6] .
Scandals
On January 18, 2017, the TMZ website showed filming shots from the film, where the German Shepherd Dog named Heracles is trying to be lowered into the racing waters, while the dog was actively resisting [7] . The American Humane Association announced that the animals were not injured during the filming and that the incident is under investigation [8] [9] . PETA has called for a boycott of the film. [10]

On June 21, 2017, Amblin Entertainment CEO Michael Wright announced the development of a sequel [11] .
In 2019, the continuation of the film distribution was released - the film “Dog's Life 2”, created after the Bruce Cameron novel “The Journey of a Good Dog”.
