He graduated from the Paris Conservatory , a student of Jean-Pierre Moren .
From 1881 he played in the Orchestra of the Concert Society of the Paris Conservatory , in 1887-1895. accompanist. At the same time he performed as part of a piano trio with Isidore Philippe and Jules Leopold Loeb , as part of this ensemble, in particular, became the first performer of the Second Piano Trio Camille Saint-Saens (1892) [1] . He also participated in chamber ensembles with wind instruments led by Paul Tuffanel .
In the years 1894-1915. taught at the Paris Conservatory, replacing his mentor Moren. Among his students are Lucien Durosoir , Marcel Chailly , Axel Schieler , Sigrid Lindberg , Eli Spivak , Isabella Beaton , ; Bertelier also studied in the violin class Vladimir Golshman , Darius Millau and Pierre Monteux .
Daughter, Madeleine Bertellier (1904-1998) - pianist [2] , occasionally accompanied Henrik Schering .
