  • Born May 13, 1928 in Masai
  • In 1949 he got married.
  • In 1952, he opened his agricultural production company, SAIMSA (Masai Industrial Agricultural Services).
  • Arrested on October 20, 1981 for violating censorship laws (for criticizing the regime of Daniel Ortega
  • In July 1982, he was arrested and sent to prison.
  • He won the 1996 vice president election.
  • January 10, 1997 - sworn in.
  • He won the 2001 presidential election.
  • January 10, 2002 - sworn in.
  • January 12, 2002 - launched a campaign against corruption, which resulted in the arrest and conviction of the predecessor of Bolanos Arnoldo Aleman .
  • In 2006, opposition candidate Daniel Ortega won the presidential election.
  • January 10, 2007 - officially ceased to be the president of Nicaragua .
