In April 2014, SSL announced a contract with the SKY Perfect JSAT Group for the production of two satellites: JCSAT-15 and JCSAT-16 [1] . The satellite is based on the SSL-1300 platform. The launch mass of the satellite is 3400 kg , dimensions when folded - 5.2 × 3.3 × 3 m, power 10 kW , and its expected service life is at least 15 years. Equipped with transponders K u- band [2] [3] .
The SKY Perfect JSAT Group will use the JCSAT-15 at 110 ° east longitude instead of the satellite, launched in 2000 [2] .
On September 8, 2014, Arianspace announced the signing of a contract with JSAT to launch the JCSAT-15 satellite aboard the Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle [4] [5] .
The satellite was launched on December 21, 2016 at 20:30 UTC by the European carrier rocket Arian-5 ECA from the launch complex ELA-3 of the Kourou space center in French Guiana , paired with the Brazilian satellite Star One D1 [6]
