History and titles
In Soviet times, she bore the name of Sofia Kovalevskaya (Russian mathematician and mechanic) [1] . A notable feature is that in the city a street is now called by the name of a mathematician - Sophia Street, and not by a surname, as is customary.
Later the street was renamed to the part of Nurgisa Tlendiev - Kazakh composer , conductor , dombrist , teacher. People's Artist of the USSR ( 1984 ). People's Hero of Kazakhstan ( 1998 ).
Street structure
The street is one-way from south to north (down) from Satpayev street to Raiymbek avenue . One-sided understudy from north to south (up) - Turgut Ozal street (formerly Bauman). Previously was two-way.
Crosses Abai Avenue , Esenzhanov Street, Shakarim, Kulymbetov Street, Karasai Batyr, Tole Bi Avenue, Duysenov Street and Kavkazskaya Street
Continuing the street north
After Raimbek Avenue, the street turns into Nemirovich-Danchenko Street (named after the Soviet theater director ). Nemirovich-Danchenko Street is often mistakenly called Tlendiev Street (Sofia Kovalevskaya Street), the street is two-sided and runs from Ryskulov Avenue to Rayymbek Avenue. Both streets form a single direction down (from south to north).
North of Ryskulov Avenue, Nemirovich-Danchenko Street flows into the g-shaped Zhanarka Street, a small section of which is also often taken as Tlendiev Street or Nemirovich-Danchenko Street.
The plan envisages the construction of a road junction at the intersection of Nemirovich-Danchenko and Ryskulov streets, with a further breakout to the north and connecting to Arshaly street in the Alatau district . Thus, a single transport highway will be formed.
Peculiarities of street traffic
- on the site north of Abai Avenue there was a speed limit sign - 40 km / h, installed even when the street was two-way. The street structure provokes acceleration higher than that used by the traffic police crews with radars;
- at the intersection with Rayymbek Avenue a nonstandard intersection is formed - 2 lanes are intended to turn left, and 2 - to go straight. By allowing movement right along the left lane, you can be on the opposite side of Nemirovich-Danchenko Street, which is what the traffic police use.
