He was an actor and director of the troupe. Kneisel wrote over 50 plays, including The Blind Man ( German Blindekuh , formed the basis of the opera of the same name by Johann Strauss-son ), Die Lieder des Musikanten, Die Tochter Belials, Die Anti-Xantippe, Papageno ”,“ Sie weiss etwas ”,“ Desdemonas Taschenbuch ”,“ Emmas Roman ”,“ Sein einziges Gedicht ”( 1885 ),“ Der Kunstbacillus ”( 1891 ),“ Der Stehauf ”( 1893 ).
