Geography
The village is located on the left bank of the Onega River, 55 kilometers from the regional center of Plesetsk . There is no bridge across Onega, which is why the village is connected to the rest of the world in the summer by ferry, and in winter by ice.
The village has 9 streets: Vokzalnaya, Oktyabrskaya, Zarechnaya, Onega, Pionerskaya, Pervomaiskaya, Sadovaya, Building, Railway.
History
The village was founded in 1947 in connection with the development of the forest industry here and the opening of a logging point, from which Krasnovsky timber industry subsequently grew. The name Lipakovo is given in honor of the author of the project of the logging station. A year later, construction began on a narrow gauge railway and other timber industrial villages that worked in conjunction with Lipakovo. At the end of the 1980s, the length of the URZ was 78 kilometers. In the 1990s, logging volumes and the population of Lipakovo began to decline. In 2000, the Krasnovsky timber industry enterprise was closed, and URD was acquired by Plesetsk CJSC. Passenger traffic is maintained at the URD, and logging is carried out in a small amount.
Transport
A bus Plesetsk - Konevo connects with the district center Lipakovo, which makes a stop at the turn to Lipakovo from the Plesetsk - Kargopol highway, two kilometers from the village. In Lipakovo, the starting station of the Onega Lipakovo narrow gauge railway is located, with a length of 33 kilometers. Three times a week, Lipakovo is connected by passenger train with the villages of Luzhma and Ceza . The narrow gauge railway gives the village relative fame and attracts tourists interested in transport topics.
