Ray Mitchell ( eng. Rhea Mitchell ; December 10, 1890 - September 16, 1957) - American actress and screenwriter . She began her career in the era of silent films and has since starred in one hundred films. Got the nickname of "girls-stunt" for the fact that she was always ready to act in exciting movie scenes [3] . The first role Mitchell was in the film On the Night Stage (1915), which was later followed by the TV series The Diamond from the Sky , with Lottie Pickford starring.

With the advent of the sound film, Mitchell continued to work in the film industry and appeared in the credits until retirement in 1952. In 1957, Mitchell was murdered by a tenant in her apartment building in Los Angeles , California . Buried at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery .
Early life
Born December 10, 1890 in Portland , Oregon [4] , in the family of Lilly and Wills M. Mitchell [5] . Grew up in Portland, being the only child in the family [6] . At the age of 17, Mitchell became involved in theatrical productions [6] .
Career
In 1909, Mitchell joined the Baker Theater Stock Company in his native Portland. Between 1911 and 1915, Mitchell performed in Spokane , Seattle , Washington , and Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada , and then settled in San Francisco [6] . There she played at venues such as the Orpheum Circuit and at the Alcazar Theater [7] . In 1912, Mitchell made her film debut by signing a contract with the New York Motion Picture Corporation [7] and starred in one hundred films. Starred with a western star, William Hart . In 1916 she starred in The Brink with Forret Winnant and Arthur Mod [8] .
After 1917, her acting career began to decline. In the mid-1930s she starred in several films and played several cameo roles in films of the 1950s, most of which were not shown in the credits. In 1936 she starred in the San Francisco film, along with Clark Gable . The director was V.S. Van-Dyke who previously shot Mitchell in the 1916 film The Hawk's Trail [9] . Mitchell was also a screenwriter. [6]
Death
After retiring from the film industry, Mitchell owned a large house in Los Angeles . In 1957, when Mitchell rented a second apartment, a disgruntled tenant Sonny Hartvod Jr. strangled her with a cord from her blue robe [10] [11] . The death of the actress attracted the attention of the newspaper Press-Telegram [10] .
She was buried at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery , in Los Angeles [4] .
