Biography
In 1881-1883 he studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Fedor Gedike (piano) and Ludwig Albrecht (solfeggio), and also studied flute and harmony. In 1885 he returned to Bulgaria, where he worked in various cities: Sofia, Stanimake (now Asenovgrad), Plovdiv, and since 1899 - in Kazanlak. His professional activities included teaching, playing the flute in an orchestra, editing a music magazine, and directing choirs and brass bands. He was also the first Bulgarian choir conductor and military bandmaster, one of the founders of the Bulgarian composer school and Bulgarian professional music. The author of the first Bulgarian opera "The Pauper " (based on a poem by Ivan Vazov , not finished, but staged in 1900). He was engaged in the processing of folk songs, he himself wrote a number of popular works, including for the choir.
The son of (1900-1953), as well as the grandson of (1925-1983) are composers.
