Biography
In 1930 he graduated from the State Academy of Music in violin classes (professor Todor Torchanov) and music theory (professors Dobri Hristov and ), and in 1934 he graduated from the Paris Schola Cantorum at Vincent d'Andy (composition) and Normal music school at Paul Duke . In the years 1938-1939 he perfected himself with Joseph Has (composition), X. Knape, (conducting) and A. Lorenz in Munich. In 1935-1938, the violinist of the string quartet Vladimir Avramov , and in 1936-1938, the head of the Radio Chamber Orchestra created on his initiative in Sofia. Since 1939 he taught orchestration and composition at the State Academy of Music in Sofia (since 1941 - professor, and in 1954-1956 - rector). Since 1943, the conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra (now the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra), with whom he toured in many countries, including the USSR . In 1965-1967 - Director of the Sofia Folk Opera . He wrote music for films, was engaged in the processing of folk songs. Among the students: Dimitar Khristov , Dimitar Typkov , Georgi Minchev , Plamen Dzhurov and others. He was the permanent chairman of the organizing committee of the All-Bulgarian Festival of Opera and Ballet Art, held annually in Stara Zagora . Author of theoretical works “At the Origins of Bulgarian Music”, “Problems of Instrument Studies” and others.
