Biography

Born in 1796 in Vienna , where his father was an adviser to the embassy.

With the outbreak of the Patriotic War of 1812, Klupfel from the Institute of Railway Engineers joined the cadet in the Life Guards Dragoon Regiment and was awarded the Military Order insignia for military distinction in the battle of Polotsk and was promoted to ensign on August 6. Klupfel then took part in all the battles waged by the Wittgenstein corps and the exile of Napoleon , and in the foreign campaigns of 1813-1814 he participated in the battles at Dresden , Kulm (for this battle the German emperor awarded him with a special Iron Cross ), Leipzig , Montmiral , Fer- Champenoise and Paris . Among the awards he received for the war against Napoleon were the orders of St. Anne of the 4th degree and St. 4th degree Vladimir with a bow.

Remaining at the end of the war with Napoleon in military service, Klupfel was transferred to the Podolsky cuirassier regiment (later the Life Guards Cuirassier regiment of His Majesty ), on May 12, 1829 was granted the adjutant wing to His Imperial Majesty.

Taking part in the pacification of the Polish uprising of 1830-1831 , for military distinction in this campaign, on October 6, 1831, Klupfel was promoted to major general and awarded the Polish 3rd rank military distinction ( Virtuti Militari ). In 1834, Klupfel was appointed commander of the Life Guards of the Cuirassier of His Majesty's Regiment, who commanded exemplarily for the next nine years. November 29, 1837 for the immaculate length of service 25 years in officer ranks was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree (No. 5518 according to the list of cavaliers Grigorovich - Stepanov).

Produced on April 11, 1843 as lieutenant general , Klupfel was first appointed director of the Pavlovsk Cadet Corps , and in 1847 - inspector of military schools. At these posts, Klupfel was not a supporter of the then merciless severity, but the gentleness of the relations of the bosses to their young subordinates and cordial attention to their needs and interests. Klupfel advocated the mitigation of the penalties imposed on the Cadets, and the comprehensive improvement of their life. With such ideas, Klupfel traveled all the military schools of the time, directing the task of educating them in accordance with his views.

April 21, 1861 promoted to general from the cavalry . December 7, 1867 was granted the adjutant general to His Imperial Majesty and was appointed a member of the Alexander Committee on the wounded.
