Mark J. Melitz ( born Marc J. Melitz ; born January 1, 1968 , USA ) is an American economist and professor at the Department of Economics named after David A. Wells at Harvard University .

Biography
Mark was born on January 1, 1968.
Melitz received a bachelor 's degree in mathematics with honors from in 1989. In 1992, he received an MSBA degree in operations research from the University of Maryland at College Park , and a master's degree in economics in 1997 from the University of Michigan . In 2000, he was awarded a doctorate in economics from the University of Michigan [2] .
He began teaching in 2000-2004 as an assistant professor, and later as an associate professor of economics in 2004-2005 at Harvard University . In 2005-2006 he was appointed associate professor of sociology at the Department of John and Ruth Hazel. In 2006-2007, he was already an associate professor of economics at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Relations at Princeton University . In 2007, he was appointed full professor of economics and international relations at the Faculty of Economics at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Relations, where he taught until 2009. Since 2009, he is a professor of economics at Harvard University , and since 2011 a professor at the Department of Economics named after David A. Wells [2] .
He was a visiting professor at Princeton University in 2005-2006. He was a member of the scientific council of the European Research Council in 2011-2012, foreign editor of in 2007-2012, assistant editor of the Journal of International Economics in 2005-2011, assistant editor of in 2004-2008. He was a member of the program committee of the Ninth International Congress of the Econometric Society. He was a researcher at the Alfred Sloan Foundation in 2005-2009 [2] .
Currently, he has been a NBER research fellow since 2000, a fellow at the since 2002, a fellow at CESifo since 2007, a fellow at the since 2012, and an assistant editor at since 2007, a member of the Econometric Society since 2008 [2] .
