History
It was founded on April 2, 1922 by a group of 22 repatriates from Second Aliyah led by David Schneiderman. This group acquired 300 dunams (75 acres ) of land on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, and this land became the Borochov district (like Shkhunat-Borokhov), the first working region in the country. It was named after Bera Borokhov , founder of the Poalei Zion Workers Party. Later, another 70 families joined the group, however, received fewer plots. The land was acquired for private savings, but was then voluntarily transferred to the Jewish National Fund, which organized Jewish settlements at that time, in accordance with the “socialist convictions” of the first repatriates.
Over time, other areas began to develop: Shenkin (1936), Givat Rambam (1933), Kiryat Yosef (1934) and Arlozorov (1936). All these quarters were united in local councils in August 1942. Givatayim received the status of a city in 1959 .
