Chilean whistlers [1] ( Latin Telmatobufo ) is a genus of frogs from the family Calyptocephalellidae . Endemics of Chile ( South America ), where they live in the mountains of the southern regions of the country. Their closest relative is the helmet - headed whistler . These frogs were recently isolated from the whistling family and placed in a new family, Calyptocephalellidae [2] . All three types of Telmatobufo , whose position has been assessed by IUCN , are considered threatened [3] .
