Club career
Halstenberg began his football career at a children's football school in the Latzen district of Grasdorf. In 1996, Marcel transferred to the youth academy of Hanover and joined the youth teams in the Bundesliga until the age of 17 and up to 19 years .
By age, Halstenberg in 2010 was transferred to the Hannover reserve team , playing in the Northern Regional League , and on November 22, 2010 played his first professional match against Holstein , leaving the starting lineup [1] .
Due to financial difficulties, in the summer transfer window of 2011, Halstenberg moved to the second team of the Dortmund Borussia [2] . In the very first season, he managed to gain a foothold in the main team in the position of a right-back and thereby help her to be one point ahead of the Sportfreinde club in the table of the Western Regional League , taking the final first place necessary for direct access to the Third League [3] .
