Biography

Born in the Perm region, but received a football education in the Rostov sport boarding school (coach - V. G. Egorov ). For some time he lived in the city of Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov Region. From there I went to enter the sports boarding school.

Spartak

In the late 70s, Khidiyatullin was noticed and invited to Spartak. Beskov saw him as an unusually talented player, identifying him as a libero , allowing him to connect to attacking actions. Khidiyatullin was part of the junior and youth team of the USSR, which in 1976 became the champion of Europe, and in 1977 - the world champion.

CSKA Army Service

At the end of the championship, on November 20, 1980 (on Beskov’s birthday), in a match with the Karpaty Lviv club Khidiyatullin 8 minutes before the end of the match (with the score 0-0), the ball hit the shoulder and a penalty was awarded. Spartak lost. Rumors spread that Khidiyatullin “surrendered” the game. When Khidiyatullin learned that he was accused of selling the match, he did not wait for official notifications, and he wrote a statement of his desire to serve in the ranks of the USSR Armed Forces. At that time he was a student at the institute, and formally had a respite. His new team was CSKA . At the training camp in the national team, Khidiyatullin’s friend Dynamo Kiev defender Vladimir Bessonov suggested he go to Dynamo, where Valery Lobanovsky was not averse to seeing him. Khidiyatullin remained in CSKA. CSKA of those years did not shine in the USSR Championship, the team was in a fever (frequent change of coaches and roster), which negatively affected the game and the situation in the team.

Despite the unimportant performance of CSKA, Khidiyatullin was involved in matches for the USSR national team. Khidiyatullin did not get to the 1982 world championship . In training, having encountered Fedor Cherenkov , he received a knee injury.

After treatment, Khidiyatullin asked the leadership of CSKA to release him back to Spartak, but was sent to Lviv . Speaking for SKA “Karpaty” , Khidiyatullin secretly met with Beskov and discussed the transition to “Spartak” . Khidiyatullin wrote a statement, but instead of Moscow he was sent to Novograd-Volynsky . Khidiyatullin was a lieutenant of the Soviet army and was appointed commander of a tank platoon in the 8th tank army. For almost a year he drove tanks, participated in exercises and was far from football. Realizing that you can soon give up on the player’s career, he filed a report on his return to any army football team in the Carpathian region. But he ended up in the hospital - for the year that Khidiyatullin was without football, an old injury made it known. At the hospital, doctors decided to commit Khidiyatullin from the ranks of the Soviet army.

Return to Spartak

In 1986, Khidiyatullin returned to Spartak, for the second time became the champion of the USSR in 1987. He was again invited to the national team by Valery Lobanovsky. At the 1988 European Championships, the USSR national team won the silver medal. It was claimed that Franz Beckenbauer, seeing Khidiyatullin’s game at this championship, said: “Give me this 4th number and in a while you will see me second in it!” In any case, after the European Championship Khidiyatullin receives an invitation to the French club Toulouse .

France

Khidiyatullin spent two seasons for Toulouse. But after an unsuccessful performance of the USSR national team at the 1990 World Cup , they did not renew the contract with him. After Toulouse, Khidiyatullin played for the modest clubs Montauban and La Bezh. In France, Khidiyatullin completed coaching courses and was already preparing to become a coach, but decided to return to Russia.

Dynamo

Khidiyatullin phoned Konstantin Beskov and offered to go to him Dynamo Moscow. He could not play at full strength and, due to a knee injury, was forced to end his career.

Game Style

Technical, brave, strong-willed, equally confidently felt in a positional game and in power combat with rivals. He was distinguished by good tactical thinking, skillfully interacted with partners, controlled the delivered blow from his left foot, and possessed the qualities of a leader.
