Demirchizade, Abdulazal Mammad oglu

Abdulazal Mamed oglu Demirchizade ( azerb. Əbdüləzəl Məmməd oğlu Dəmirçizadə ; July 8, 1909 , Nuha - 1979 , Baku ) - Azerbaijani Soviet linguist, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR , doctor of philological sciences, professor. He conducted scientific research in the field of the history of the Azerbaijani language [1] . He was prominent, according to the Turkologist N. G. Najafov, a representative of Azerbaijani Soviet Turkology [2] . Honored Scientist of the Azerbaijan SSR, laureate of the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR [3] .

Biography

Abdulazal Mamed oglu Demirchizade was born on July 8, 1909 in the city of Nuha (now Sheki) in the family of a blacksmith [2] . He received secondary education in his hometown, from 1917-1922. [4] studied at the Hadikatul Maarif School. In 1925, Demirchizade graduated from the Nukha teacher's seminary. After seminary, he taught in the city of Nuha. Along with this, he published articles, stories and essays in the collection "New School" [5] .

In 1929, Demirchizade arrived in Baku and entered the pedagogical faculty of Azerbaijan State University (now - Baku State University). He was taught by such scholars as Bekir Chobanzade , Abdurragim-bek Akhverdiev , Yusif Vezir Chemenzeminli , Abdullah Shaig [5] . After graduation, Demirchizade returned to Nuhu and continued to engage in teaching activities [5] .

In 1933, Abdulazal Demirchizade returned to Baku and entered the graduate school of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute named after V. I. Lenin [5] [2] . In 1936, the first work of Demirchizade was published under the title “Turkic language”. In 1938, Demirchizadeh published a book, Essays on the History of the Azerbaijani Literary Language [2] .

In 1940, Abdulazal Demirchizade was awarded the scientific degree of candidate of philological sciences , and in 1944, the academic degree of doctor of philological sciences for the capital work “History of the Azerbaijani language”. This work by Demirchizade was noted by Soviet scientists, academicians Ivan Meshchaninov , Vasily Struve , etc. [2] . A year later, Demirchizade was awarded the academic title of professor [5] .

Since 1939, Abdulazal Demirchizade conducted research work at the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, and in 1955 he was elected a corresponding member of the academy [2] . For many years, Demirchizade studied the orthoepy of the Azerbaijani language. Such works by Demirchizade as “History of the Azerbaijani Literary Language” (1938), “History of the Azerbaijani Language” (1947), “Ways of Development of the Azerbaijani Literary Language” (1958), “History of the Azerbaijani Literary Language” (1967), “Historical Grammar of the Azerbaijani Language ”(1967),“ Studies on the Azerbaijani language ”(1947) (phonetics section),“ Grammar of the Azerbaijani language ”(1951) (phonetics section),“ Phonetics of the modern Azerbaijani language ”(1960),“ Fundamentals of orthoepy of the Azerbaijani language ”(1969 ), "The style of Azerbaijani language ”(1962),“ The language of dastans “ Kitabi Dede-Korkud “ ”(1960),“ 50 words ”(1963) and others played a significant role in the formation of Azerbaijani linguistics, especially in studying the history of the Azerbaijani language, its phonetics, orthoepy, stylistics , etymologies, were a valuable contribution to Soviet Turkology [1] .

Demirchizade also conducted pedagogical work, having prepared doctors and candidates of sciences [1] . He prepared more than 50 candidates of science [6] . Abdulazal Demirchizadeh is the author of many works on the teaching of the Azerbaijani language, including the textbooks “Turkic Language” (1936), “Grammar” (1938), “Azerbaijan Language” (1941) (for the school of deaf children), “Azerbaijan Language” ( 1947), as well as programs of such courses as “Modern Azerbaijani Language”, “History of the Azerbaijani Literary Language”, “History of the Grammar of the Azerbaijani Language” for higher schools and dozens of scientific and methodological articles [1] .

Demirchizade headed the department of the Azerbaijani language at the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute. V. I. Lenin [1] . Abdulazal Demirchizade died in 1979 [6] . He was buried on the II Alley of Honor in Baku .

Memory

A street in the city of Baku was named after Abdulazal Demirchizade [6] .
