Biography

Ernst Veenemans professionally started rowing since 1958, training on the basis of the club " ASR Nereus " in Amsterdam . He gained his first Olympic experience during the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. At competitions in rowing, he performed in the category - deuces without steering. The joint debut with Steven Blaise on Lake Albano did not bring the Dutch rowers medals. Success in this sporting pair came in 1961 at the 1961 European Championship in rowing in Prague. In the category “deuces without steering”, Veenemans-Blyse ​​earned bronze medals [2] .

The highest award they received at the 1964 European rowing championships in Amsterdam in the category "two without a helmsman." With a result of 6: 42.55, the Dutch rowers won the gold of the swim [3] .

After this success, their couple was sent to the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo . This time Veenemans-Blayse won silver medals in the category “double oar with helmsman”, losing in the finals to the team from Canada [4] .
