Cobra Special Forces Military Police Battalion ( Serb. Bataљon military police special name “Kobre”; Bataljon vojne policije specijalne namene "Kobre" ) - Serbian special military police unit of the Serbian Army , designed to fight terrorism, guard and to carry out special operations .

The battalion was created by decision of the Federal Secretary for National Defense in 1978 [1] . Until 1988, the battalion was part of the 281st UNA battalion. In 1999, the battalion had a symbol in the form of a “winged cobra”.
During the Yugoslav Wars, the battalion took part in battles with the British Special Forces SAS , the American Marines and the French foreign legion . During the battles against the SAS, he lost one fighter.
Since 2007, the battalion has been directly subordinate to the General Staff of the Serbian Army and is part of the military police. The battalion includes more than 200 people [2] .
The battalion is responsible for protecting the chief of the General Staff, the Minister of Defense and the President of Serbia , as well as representatives of foreign officials who visit Serbia . According to the estimates of the Serbian Ministry of Defense, the battalion is the best special unit of Serbia and one of the most trained special units in Europe [3] .
Since 2013, women have been heavily represented in the battalion. After completion of training, VIPs are protected on a par with men [4] .
