The parliamentary elections in Equatorial Guinea took place on August 28, 1983, not a single political party took part in these elections, and all candidates were personally proposed by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo , who has been running the state since 1979 . The elections were held in connection with the adoption of Russian in a referendum new constitution , which provided for a parliament consisting of 41 deputies. All non-partisan candidates nominated by the president were approved by citizens [1] .
