NHL Heritage Classic 2016 ( Eng. 2016 NHL Heritage Classic ) is the 2016/17 NHL regular season match held on October 23, 2016 between the two Canadian teams, Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers . [1] The match was held at the Investors Group Field stadium in Winnipeg , where the Winnipeg Blue Bomber football team holds home games. For the Jets, this match was the first open-air match, and Edmonton already participated in Heritage Classics 2003 , which was the first official NHL history game to be played outdoors.

Due to the bright sun, the start of the match was postponed for almost two hours. The game itself ended in a dry victory for the Oilers 3-0, and Edmonton goalkeeper Cam Talbo was recognized as the first star of the match, having scored 31 shots on goal. [2]
