Bloodstone & Diamonds is the eighth full-length studio album of the American groove metal band Machine Head , released by Nuclear Blast on November 7, 2014 [9] . This is the band’s first album, which featured a new bass player, Jared McChern, who replaced Adam Dewes after he left the band.

The album was mixed by Colin Richardson along with Andy Snip and Steve Lagudi. The album was designed by Travis Shinn. Bloodstone & Diamonds is the band’s first release recorded after the termination of the contract with Roadrunner Records [10] .
Musically, the release showed the development of the former style of the group on the albums The Blackening and Unto the Locust . The theme of songs, traditionally for Machine Head, is based on social issues.
Critics welcomed Bloodstone & Diamonds . So, the album rating on Metacritic is 96 out of 100 based on five reviews. The release was also accompanied by commercial success: in the first week of sales, the album debuted on the 21st line of The Billboard 200 , which is the highest position for the group at the moment.

Music Style
The theme of the album’s songs, as on previous Machine Head albums, is devoted to political and social issues. The song “Night of Long Knives”, contrary to its name, is associated not with the coup of Ryoma , but with Charles Manson .
Reviews
Critics accepted the album favorably. So, The Guardian House Lawson described the album as “a striking balance between brutal sound, exquisite melody and bold experiments, which allows us to call this release the best mainstream metal album of 2014” [8] . In its first week of sales, the album debuted at # 21 on The Billboard 200 , [11] which is the group’s highest score in this charts.
