Filming began July 24, 2014 in Montreal ( Canada ). Focus Features , Solofilms, and Trinity Race produced the film. Entertainment One released the film in Canada , Focus Features in the United States on February 19, 2016, Eagle Pictures in Italy on March 31, and SquareOne Entertainment in Germany on May 5. The film was supported by the Owens family and the Jesse Owens Foundation [3] .

Development
John Boyega was originally planned for the role of Owens, but he went to star in Star Wars: The Force Awakens [4] [5] , and then he was replaced by Stefan James [6] .
Shooting
Filming began on July 24, 2014 in Montreal and at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin [7] .
Release
October 1, 2014 " Focus Features " set the release date - April 8, 2016 [8] . On August 27, 2015, the date was shifted to February 19, 2016 [9] .
