The son of a musician. He graduated from the Hague Conservatory , a student of Joseph Giza . In 1873 he made his debut as part of one of the Dutch orchestras, replaced several groups until in 1888 he entered the Concertgebouw Orchestra , whose soloist remained until the end of his life. As a chamber musician, he often performed in the ensemble with his wife, the favorite number of their repertoire was the Sonata for cello and piano by Edward Grieg (once Bosmans had the chance to play it accompanied by the author). He also performed regularly with the performance of Suite Johann Sebastian Bach BWV 1012 for a five-string cello, and a special instrument was made for this purpose by Bosmans. Among other musicians in the ensemble with whom Bosmans often happened to play are Julius Roentgen , Willem Kes , Josef Kramer , Christian Timner . Since 1884 he was a professor of cello at the Amsterdam Conservatory .
