Leonid Feoktistovich Chornogor ( Ukrainian Leonid Feoktistovich Chornogor ; born June 2, 1950 , Sakhnovschina , Kharkov region ) - Soviet, Ukrainian radio physicist and space physicist; Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, professor; Laureate of the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in the field of science and technology (1989) [1] .

Biography
In 1967 he graduated from high school in Sakhnovschina , in 1972 with honors - the Radiophysical Department of Kharkov State University [1] .
Since 1972 - Junior Researcher, Department of Space Radiophysics, Kharkov University; at the same time in 1975 he graduated from graduate school there [2] . Since 1975 - associate professor, since 1988 - professor at the Department of Space Radiophysics of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University [1] .
Member of the Editorial Board of the journal " Science and Technology " [3] .
Family
Father - Feoktist Klimentievich Chernogor, teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature of high school; mother - Olga Vasilievna Igonina, teacher of elementary grades [1] .
Scientific activity
In 1975 he defended his PhD, in 1987 - his doctoral dissertation [1] .
The main areas of research:
- the physical foundations of space monitoring systems, space rocket defense and the detection of nuclear explosions;
- physics of high-energy phenomena in the system "Earth - atmosphere - ionosphere - magnetosphere".
Achievements [1] :
- formulated and developed the concept that the Earth – atmosphere – ionosphere – magnetosphere system is an open nonlinear system, investigated the mechanisms of interaction of subsystems, determined excitation thresholds and studied the manifestations of triggers in subsystems;
- experimentally established and theoretically explained the previously unknown phenomenon of the occurrence of large-scale (over 1000 km) disturbances in the near-Earth plasma and geomagnetic field caused by the action of powerful unsteady radio waves on the ionosphere;
- proposed and implemented a number of radiophysical methods for remote sensing of near-Earth plasma.
Supervises the work of ground support of the Ionosat-Micro project.
Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Applied Radio Electronics of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine (since 1993); Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine (since 2005). Honored Professor of Kh.NU.V.N. Karazin (2010).
The author of more than 600 scientific papers, including textbooks and teaching aids [2] .
