Kunduz hospital air strike

On October 3, 2015, the US Air Force AC-130 aircraft launched an air strike, which partially destroyed the Doctors Without Borders hospital in Kunduz ( Afghanistan ). At the time of the air strike, 80 doctors and over 100 patients were in the hospital. 42 people were killed, 37 were injured. [1] [2]

The Doctors Without Borders organization called the hospital’s air strike a war crime and called for an independent investigation. [3]

US President Barack Obama apologized for what happened. [3]

Investigation

The U.S. Department of Defense, NATO and Afghan authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the hospital’s air strike. [3]

On April 29, 2016, the U.S. Department of Defense imposed disciplinary sanctions on 16 U.S. troops following an investigation. [1] [4]
