Biography
Born in the family of a postal employee. Without graduating from high school, he went to the merchant fleet. In 1914, his ship was detained in a French port, and Sauckel himself was interned. After the end of World War I he returned to Germany. In 1922 he joined the NSDAP (ticket number 1395) and the CA. From March 1, 1925, the Gaugeschaftsfuhrer, and from September 20, 1927, the Gauleiter of Thuringia. In 1929 - 1933 he was a deputy of the Thuringian Landtag , chairman of the NSDAP faction.
