The distance consisted of 16 laps 12.6 km long each and went along the same path as the 2011 race . The route that ran in Old Quebec included four premium climbs that played out the mountain classification of the race. It was well suited for miners and punchers , as the finish of the race coincided with the top of the last climb with an average gradient of 4%. After the start and the first four kilometers, the riders were waiting for a technical descent with a Côte Gilmour with a length of about a kilometer with a gradient of more than 10% and two left turns of 90 degrees each. After that, the route went along the Champlain Boulevard along the St. Lawrence River where it was to overcome 4 km along the plain exposed to the wind. After that, categorical ups began.
