Liber, Charles

Charles Lieber ( born Charles M. Lieber ; born April 9, 1959 , Philadelphia , PA) is an American chemical scientist. The works are mainly devoted to nanochemistry and physical chemistry. Harvard University Professor. Member of the National Academy of Sciences (2004) [7] and the US Medical Academy , foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2015) [8] .

He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College (Bachelor of Chemistry, 1981). He carried out doctoral studies at Stanford, where in 1985 he received a Ph.D. in chemistry. He was a postdoc in Caltech (1985-1987). In 1987-1991, at Columbia University: initially an assistant professor, since 1990 an associate professor. Since 1991, a professor at Harvard, registered since 1999 (Mark Hyman Professor) and since 2017, a registered university professor (Joshua and Beth Friedman University Professor), since 2015 he has been the head of the department of chemistry and chemical biology. Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2002) [9] , the fello of the American Chemical Society. Co-editor of .

Published over 400 papers in peer-reviewed journals. In 2011, the 20th most cited of the living chemists (Hirsch index = 108) [10] .
