Biography
Born November 5, 1839 in Toulouse .
Initially, he studied painting under the guidance of his father, also an artist. In 1857, he won the second largest municipal prize for painting in Toulouse. He later studied at the School of Fine Arts in the workshops of Flanders , Ingres and Jerome .
In 1865 he won the Roman Prize for his work Orphée aux enfers ("Orpheus in Hell"). In 1871, he painted a copy of the La Vierge van Dyck painting for the church of the city of Saint-Bozeli , department of Aveyron .
Until 1880, in addition to painting, he taught art. Then he switched to music, becoming a composer.
He died in 1903 in Paris.
