Ungufaru ( Mald. އުނގޫފާރު ) is one of the inhabited islands in the administrative atoll of Raa , Maldives . It is the main settlement of the atoll.

Located in the northern part of the Maldives archipelago, about 173 km from the country's capital, the city of Male . It is 775 m long and 450 m wide. The area of the island is 34.4 hectares. As of 2006, the island had a population of 2,988: 1,471 men and 1,517 women. Age structure of the population: 1501 people - under 18 years old; 422 people - from 19 to 25 years old; 938 people - from 26 to 64 years old and 127 people - aged 65 years and older. The literacy rate of the population is 95.3% [1] .
In total, there are 472 households on the island, that is, on average 6.3 people per 1 household [2] . There are 2 schools and a regional hospital [1] .
After the devastating tsunami in December 2004, the population of the devastated Kanduludu island was resettled to Ungufaru. In 2008, these people were again relocated to the nearby island of Dvuvafaru.
