Polly-Louisa Salmon ( born Polly-Louisa Salmon ; born July 19, 1990 [2] ), is best known by the pseudonym GFOTY (short for Girlfriend Of The Year ), a British pop singer. Since 2014, she has been releasing her music on the PC Music label . Her most famous work was the creation of mixes [3] .

Biography

GFOTY is the daughter of businessman Jeff Salmon [4] . Grew up in London [2] [5] . Her early songs “Take a Picture” and “Friday Night” were recorded with the rap group Serious Thugs. “Friday Night” is a comic perception of teenagers' current entertainment [6] [7] . In 2013, the debut single of the singer “Bobby” was released on the PC Music label. This song describes vain feelings after breaking up [5] [9] [9] . When writing the song “My Song”, GFOTY inspired the color FFB6C1 [14] .

She performed the vocal parts for the song “Hard”, the bi-side for the single Sophie - “Lemonade” [15] . In September 2014, producer Ryan Hemsworth released the compilation / mini album shh # ffb6c1 on his Secret Songs label. He collaborated with GFOTY on the recording of the track “My Song” [14] . After that, she collaborated with another PC Music artist, Maxo, on his song “Not That Bad” [15] .

In Halloween 2014, GFOTY appeared on the same stage with AG Cook and Danny L Harle during the broadcast of Dead or Alive . The show was broadcast in the UK, in Denmark, in the USA and in Japan [16] .

In 2015, the singer released the Cake Mix . This release consists of “sugary and buzzing compositions” [17] [18] . The mix includes an adaptation of the 1996 Peter single, “ Mysterious Girl ” featuring Bubbler Ranx , as well as a cover of the 2000 single Blink-182 “ All the Small Things ” [19] . Her release, Dog Food Mix 1 , recorded with Spinee, is a remake of GFOTY’s early songs [20] . The second mix was released in May 2015 [21] . Then it was planned to release a full album [22] .

In March 2015, GFOTY performed in Austin, Texas, USA as part of the SXSW festival . Her performance received rave reviews from Exclaim , who called it “exciting” [23] , and Noisey in wrote the following: “When I saw GFOTY, then apparently it was the best thing I could see in a week: I was just fucking crazy. I fell in love with her. I was just delighted ” [24] . On May 8, 2015, Diamond performed at the BRIC House , in Brooklyn, New York as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival event [25] .

GFOTY names R. Kelly as the performer who influenced her, calling him either “the smartest guy in the Universe” or “a complete idiot” and says the following: “Nevertheless, I love him and cannot understand why” [26] .
