Sports career
In amateur cycling, he trained under the guidance of the famous past athlete, world champion Louis Gerardin .
In 1956, he won the championship of France and the sprint Grand Prix in Paris among amateur cyclists that my year won the Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne in an individual sprint on the track, he also became the world champion (1956-1957) in the same discipline [3 ] .
Since 1957 he switched to professional cycling. In 1958, he won the World Track Sprint Championship, in 1959 and 1961 he became the silver medalist. In the year of the end of his sports career (1967), he won the French Championship for the fifth time in the track sprint among professionals, before that he won in 1959-1962.
In subsequent years, he was engaged in the sale of ready-made clothes and supervised a driving school. In 1964, he introduced a bicycle of his own design with an extremely flat wheel, but could not bring it to the market. For a short time I tried to be a catcher . Subsequently, he emigrated to Canada, then to South Africa (as a coach) and, finally, to Australia, where he lived on the outskirts of Melbourne.
In 2002, he was included in the Hall of Fame of the International Union of Cyclists [4] .
