Siedlce ( Siedlce , Polish. Siedlce [ˈɕɛdlt͡sɛ] , Yiddish שעדליץ , Shedlitz ; the Russian name for the time of the Kingdom of Poland is Siedlce , in pre-reform spelling it was spelled я --ѣѣцц ) - a city in eastern Poland ( Masovian Voivodeship ) approximately 90 kilometers. History

In the Kingdom of Poland

In February 1846, the nobleman Pantaleon Potocki with a small detachment of rebels attacked the Russian garrison and took control of the city. It was an attempt to initiate a popular uprising. Pantaleon Potocki was soon captured and sentenced to death by hanging . The execution took place on the Siedlec market on March 17, 1846 . The rebels were sent to Siberia.

On May 3, 1919, a memorial cross was opened at the site of the execution of Potocki.
